Discovering What You Want
|
What Else Will Change?
Wanting to change and actually doing so
are two different things. Using an NLP technique
called "eliciting a well formed outcome"
you'll first discover what you really
want.
In one coaching
session by answering a series of questions
you'll discover such things as: What else
will change? What will you lose? Will you
have to discontinue some behaviors or habits
you really enjoy, such as weekly food fests
with friends, or evening snacking?
Who else will be affected by your change?
Will anyone object, including parts of yourself?
Are there any reasons you cannot make the
change you desire, such as being unable
to prepare your own food, or make your own
food choices?
What will you gain? What are some of the
positive aspects of making this change?
Are any of these a little scary? Are you
sure this is what you want and are you prepared
to accept all of these things? Looking at
the change you say you want from every angle
can helps you to find what you really want.
This process doesn't talk you out of change,
instead it helps you uncover your hidden
obstacles to change. Things that up until
now have stopped you or caused you to sabotage
your efforts, and leads you to ways to make
those changes.
Next, we move into the area of Beliefs
and what I call, Giving
Limiting Beliefs a Whack
